Route and Itinerary

Bill, Kit and I will drive to Larson's Landing campground, at Dillon Beach north of Tomales Bay, on Mon 9/7. Early the next morning Kit and I dip our wheels in the Pacific, then hop on our bikes to begin our adventure. Below is our anticipated itinerary and approximate mileage. Barring really nasty weather, mechanical, physical or emotional breakdowns we hope to stay close to schedule. We will be over-nighting with friends, camping, and occasionally motels. We will also be staying with hosts from WarmShowers.org, an organization that kind people join to offer their yards, or homes and other amenities, to weary touring cyclists. Our total miles will be almost 1900, averaging about 60 miles per day.

Why Pratt, KS? Kit's father and aunt were born and raised in Pratt, and we thought we would finish in Kansas this year as it is midway across the country. The trip from Pratt to the Atlantic coast in Virginia is scheduled for next fall, completing the journey cross-country.
While our purpose each day is to ride and then rest, we hope to find energy and internet access as often as possible to update our blog. We do want to share our adventures with friends and families. So keep checking the site, and wish up good times!

  1. What Fun!! Thanks for the card and for sending me the link to your blog. I'll be sure to check in and see how you're all doing and read about your adventures. I was tickled to see that you'll be visiting Kanab and Best Friends. I spent 10 days there years ago working and helping with the animals. It was a wonderful experience and I know you'll love it. Have lots of fun and be safe. Love Cindy
